Montessori and AI

How Montessori prepares for an AI world

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the world — and with it, the question of what school should actually prepare for. We believe: now more than ever, Montessori pedagogy proves what it has always stood for.

How Montessori prepares for an AI world

Routine activities are being automated. What remains are skills AI cannot replace: creative thinking, critical questioning, empathy, collaboration. These are the very competencies that have stood at the heart of our pedagogy for over 100 years.

We don't ban AI — we teach how to understand it. From middle primary onwards, children work with age-appropriate AI tools, learn their possibilities and limits, and practise the critical handling of generated content.

At the same time, we preserve what distinguishes our children from AI: the experience of their own thinking. Anyone who only ever has answers generated loses the ability to think for themselves. Our pedagogy trains the opposite — the joy and discipline of finding your own way to a solution.

How we do this concretely

We don't know which professions will exist in 20 years. But we know which skills will matter then. We're training exactly those in your child — every day, quite naturally.
